Voice Disorders
A field where hoarseness and vocal-cord problems are evaluated with endoscopic examination and treated medically or surgically.
About Voice Disorders
The symptom of hoarseness is a condition that certainly happens to everyone at certain periods of life. It can often be seen especially in conditions such as colds and flu; however, if it lasts longer than 3 weeks it may be significant.
In such cases, the vocal cords are examined in detail with endoscopic examination; the presence of formations such as nodules, polyps and edema is evaluated and medical or surgical treatment can be planned.
Reflux developing due to stomach problems can also be an important cause of hoarseness. In addition, hoarseness is common in some professional groups who have to overstrain their voice.
